Afghanistan: Transition will end in 2014

A statement from the White House in Washington has confirmed that the transition process between Nato and Afghan forces will terminate, as planned, in 2014. The killing of 16 civilians by an American soldier early this week has considerably weakened Nato’s and especially Washington’s position in Afghanistan as President Karzai suggested an early end to foreign involvement and the Taliban announced a halt in negotiation talks.
